Required Information when reporting a problem.
Follow steps for either DBMoto 5 and above or DBMoto 4.
DBMoto 5 and above
- Product and version number.
- License Key.
- If you have licensed the product, who you licensed the product through (distributor name or HiT Software).
- Operating system and version where DBMoto is running, including Service Pack and MDAC versions.
- DBMoto.log file - automatically produced by DBMoto in the DBMoto V5/Log folder.
- Metadata backup to an XML file.
In the
DBMoto Enterprise Manager, right-click on the metadata in bold and choose “Backup metadata” (or select the metadata then choose Metadata, Backup Metadata... from the main toolbar. See figure below.)

- DBMoto.trc file.
If the problem occurs while running the replication, send the DBMoto.trc file.
Stop the data replicator, then, in the DBMoto Enterprise Manager, choose Tools, Options, Log, and enable “Activate Data Replicator Tracing.” (See figure below.)
NOTE: Remember to switch off (uncheck) the trace option after generating the trace.

- DBMotoEM.trc file.
If the problem occurs in the DBMoto Enterprise Manager while setting up or modifying connections or a replication, send the DBMotoEM.trc trace file.
Stop the data replicator, then, in the DBMoto Enterprise Manager, choose Tools, Options, Log, and enable “Activate Enterprise Manager Tracing.” (See figure above.)
NOTE: Remember to switch off (uncheck) the trace option after generating the trace.
- System and version for the source and target DBMS involved in the replications.
- Thorough explanation of error description and frequency (intermittent or systematic).
- Previous versions of the product used and related behavior, if applicable.
- Zip file containing trace and log files when greater than 500KB. All DBMoto log and trace files are located at "X:\Program Files\HiT Software\DBMoto V6\Log" where X is the drive. Before sending them, compress them with Winzip or similar application. If the material produced is smaller than 5 Mbytes, send it via email to dbmoto-support@hitsw.com, otherwise let dbmoto-support@hitsw.com know the size of the file you want to send to HiT Software and we'll get back to you.
DBMoto 4
- Product and version number.
- License Key.
- If you have licensed the product, who you licensed the product through
(distributor name or HiT Software).
- Operating system and version where DBMoto is running, including Service Pack and MDAC versions.
- For version 3.5 and above, send trace created with the toolbox.
- For earlier versions, define the connections (source and target) involved and the replication settings (table mappings, field mappings, scripts used).
- System and version for the DBMS (DB2/400, Oracle, DB2/UDB, SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL, Access.) involved in the replications.
- Thorough explanation of error description and frequency (intermittent or systematic).
- Previous versions of the product used and related behavior, if applicable.
- Screen shots of the errors and/or error messages, if applicable
- Log file: The log file is called DBMoto.log and is located at "X:\Program
Files\HiT Software\HiTDBMoto\DBMoto\" Where X is the drive. Before
sending the file, compress it with Winzip or similar application. If
the log is smaller than 5Mbyte send it via email to
dbmoto-support@hitsw.com, otherwise let
dbmoto-support@hitsw.com know the size of the file you want to send to HiT Software and we'll
get back to you).
