FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HiT Software to Join the Midrange Alliance Program San Jose, California, May 9, 2005 - HiT Software Inc., a leading developer of standards-based products for relational database access, recently became a member of the Midrange Alliance Program (MAP), a strategic initiative by Microsoft and industry partners to educate enterprises relying on the iSeries platform about options for leveraging and extending investments in their IBM midrange systems, using Windows and the .NET Framework. HiT Software offers two products through the Midrange Alliance Program: DBMoto, a .NET Framework-based real-time database replication solution from DB2/iSeries to Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and Ritmo, .NET Framework-based managed provider to connect to DB2/iseries from applications compliant with the .NET Framework. DBMoto offers a seamless migration path between iSeries and SQL Server using standards based on the .NET Framework. DBMoto allows iSeries customers to take advantage of Microsoft's new platforms without disrupting existing investments in iSeries database servers. DB2/iSeries is well known for its scalability, reliability and high transaction processing capability while the .NET Framework and SQL Server are known for interoperability and cost-effective development. DBMoto allows customers to simultaneously take advantage of the benefits of both platforms. In refresh mode, DBMoto reads data from a source database, applies administrator-defined mapping rules, and writes the result to the target database. In mirroring mode, DBMoto performs a real time incremental replication based on transaction logs. Powerful, easy to use wizards make setting up a replication a snap. And, unlike other data replication solutions, DBMoto offers unlimited control over data replication and transformation using standard scripting language. Physician Associates, a network of over 800 independent physicians in southern California, has been using DBMoto to replicate their iSeries database to SQL Server for over 3 years. As a result, they have experienced significant data access gain for their web-based medical management software. "I had no prior experience with DBMoto, but I got it to work on my first attempt. Most importantly, it allows us to provide real-time data to our physician providers. DBMoto was well worth our investment." said Ken Trinh, Systems administrator. Ritmo for iSeries is a Microsoft .NET Framework managed data provider for IBM iSeries. Ritmo for iSeries accepts application SQL commands via Microsoft ADO.NET or directly via its object properties and methods. It then communicates with the iSeries server to access, retrieve, and update data for optimal performance. Ritmo, with its 100% managed code, is well positioned for use by developers and System Integrators. For applications running in a .NET Framework and requiring iSeries database access, the use of a 100% managed .NET Framework data provider like Ritmo guarantees optimal results. With Ritmo, developers and IT managers are assured of maximum application performance. "Via the Midrange Alliance Program, DBMoto and Ritmo can help enterprises worldwide to leverage the .NET Framework and reduce the risks and high cost of maintaining, extending and migrating established IBM midrange systems without impacting their existing IT infrastructure. We are delighted to work with Microsoft as partners in this initiative." said Giacomo Lorenzin, HiT Software CEO. "HiT Software is a perfect fit for the Midrange Alliance Program and we are thrilled to have them on board," said David Delisi, product manager, Platform Strategy Group, Microsoft Corp. "Through its robust product offerings, HiT Software will enable customers to seamlessly and efficiently extend iSeries applications to Windows using the .NET Framework.
