HiT Software Announces the Release of Allora Version 4.1, an evolution of the Market Leader for Bi-directional Transformation Between XML and any Database

San Jose, California, June 16, 2005 - HiT Software, a leading developer of standards-based products for relational database access, today announced the release of Allora 4.1, the middleware reference for XML to database integration projects.

Since 2000, Allora's graphical mapping tool, extensive APIs, and run-time middleware engine have provided the most flexible product on the market to bi-directionally transform data between XML formats and relational database structures. With its powerful and easy-to-use graphical user interface, Allora offers a fast and convenient way to export data from any relational database to XML, or, even more challenging, to map and transform XML data to relational data.

The main enhancement in Allora 4.1 is the multiple SELECT feature. Until now, Allora was able to perform the most complex database to XML transformations using a single SQL query. However, there are cases where the single SQL query approach is not ideal. Allora now offers an option to work with multiple sub-maps that are then joined in real-time with XSL, a W3C language for transforming XML documents. With the multiple SQL query approach, Allora 4.1 is also able to compete in the heterogeneous database migration market. Rather than using database specific SQL dumps or flat files that cannot contain table relationships or constraints, the complete database structure and data can be persisted into XML for easy access or transport, and recreated on any other database platform at a minimum cost.

Other enhancements in the Allora 4.1 Mapper include support for namespace definitions, complex database expressions, NetBeans 4.1 and stored procedures in Oracle packages.

"We believe Allora is the most sophisticated yet user friendly product in its category," said Giacomo Lorenzin, CEO of HiT Software. "Allora has gained considerable interest in the market place for large-scale governmental and commercial projects. It empowers IT staff to complete complex database integration projects with no external consulting help and therefore to keep the cost down for both development and regular maintenance."

Allora 4.1 is now certified to work with over 20 different databases, from the most common ones such as Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and MySQL to others used in vertical applications. Allora is also CASmart certified for all CA databases: Ingres, IDMS and DataCom.
